The Fort Eustis Simulation Training Center located just outside Newport News, Virginia is one of Globalism’s earliest clients. Since the mid-1990s GlobalSim has worked with the staff at Fort Eustis to provide numerous simulators to the Army Training Support Enterprise (TSE).
Recently, we spoke with instructor Perry Schmoll at the Simulation Training Center about the use of simulators in everyday training. A video featuring this interview is available online at the following link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqjoQFfXMCY
The training facility in Fort Eustis is responsible for providing oversight for many programs that enable training and education support capability worldwide. The facility has a staff of more than 400 soldiers, civilians and contractors to ensure the Army has the resources it needs to accomplish its mission. Fort Eustis uses simulation for much of its basic training. The soldiers come in for training on a simulator before getting on the real equipment. The simulator training begins with one soldier in the simulator cabin and another soldier talking them through the exercise. As part of the simulator training, soldiers can experience different weather conditions, environment changes and night or day operations to make it more like real life conditions.
“Simulation is important for training soldiers because it gives them a real feel of the equipment prior to them getting into it. GlobalSim provides the simulators here at Fort Eustis and we have a relationship with them. We find that having one company to work with has become beneficial,” states Instructor Perry Schmoll.
GlobalSim Simulation makes professional simulators for material handling equipment. Military applications range from cranes to all terrain forklifts. For more information, please click here.
