GMP in Le Havre Finalizes New Crane Simulator Project with GlobalSim

Générale de Manutention Portuaire (GMP) at the Port of Le Havre, France, has finalized an agreement with GlobalSim for a new crane simulator to replace their existing system. In 2008, GMP purchased GlobalSim’s flagship simulator which included the hardware and software applications for a Straddle Carrier. While the system has served GMP well over the last decade, the company has been eager to replace or upgrade the aging system. “We have been working with GMP for a long time,” states Dan Olson, Vice President of Operation at GlobalSim. “This project is unique because we are taking decade old system, replacing the obsolete parts, adding a brand-new cab, and fully integrating it with our new design. In the end it’s an entirely new system.” The new crane simulator will feature the latest technology and graphics, including interchangeable controls so that various crane models can be used on the simulator with minimal time to change between models. “We are very excited to have finalized this new crane simulator and continue our long-standing relationship with GlobalSim,” remarked Christophe Maurouard, Head Trainer at GMP. “This new simulator will be a major upgrade for GMP” says Brad Ball, VP of Sales for GlobalSim. “It’s made possible in part because they’ve worked closely with GlobalSim to properly maintain and service the simulator over the years.” Ball continues “The system has aged gracefully, and we were able to propose an upgrade and retrofit rather than a complete system replacement. Ultimately it’s an easier transition and it saves GMP a considerable amount of money.” GlobalSim engineers will develop and test the system components at their headquarters in Salt Lake City this fall. The system is expected to be delivered and ready to use at GMP by the end of 2018. For more information about GlobalSim’s crane simulators, please click here.
